Rabat, 10 September 2024 – The National Office of Hydrocarbons and Mines (ONHYM) welcomed a high-level delegation from the Republic of The Gambia, led by Ambassador Habib T. B. Jarra, Secretary General of the Office of the President of The Gambia. The delegation also included Mr. Ousainou Senghore, Director General of the Gambia Investment and Export Promotion Agency (GIEPA), Ms. Sarata Conateh, Director General of the Gambia Chamber of Commerce and Industry, as well as other senior officials from both public and private sectors.
During the visit, discussions centered on expanding cooperation and investment opportunities between ONHYM and Gambian companies in the fields of hydrocarbons and mining. Particular emphasis was placed on capacity building and the exchange of technical expertise, with the goal of fostering stronger collaboration in these critical sectors.
This visit marks the beginning of The Gambia's economic promotion week in Morocco, aimed at highlighting the country's economic potential across various sectors. It also seeks to strengthen win-win business partnerships between Moroccan and Gambian operators, promoting mutual growth and development.
The Gambian delegation’s visit underscores the growing importance of African cooperation in energy and mining, with both nations poised to benefit from enhanced collaboration and knowledge exchange.
